RUMI

What is Therapy?

"The cure for the pain is the pain."- Rumi

To live is to feel and experience pain in many forms- rejection, abandonment, grief, and violation are but a few. The strategies by which we cope with pain are often learned from our family systems. Our responses may be unhealthy, resulting in depressed, anxious lives, or a need to numb ourselves. Being able to experience, hold space for, and then release our pain is the path to fulfillment; body, mind, and soul. Therapy is just that; learning to walk with your pain, hand in hand.

Mindfulness to Heal.

My journey of healing led me to the ancient science of yoga. I completed my 200 hour Yoga Immersion Teacher Training in Goa India. I offer a strong therapy foundation along with mindfulness techniques for healing mind, body, and soul.

What is Mindfulness?

Mindfulness is knowing what you are experiencing while you are experiencing it. It is moment-to-moment awareness and has the quality of being in the now. There’s a sense of freedom, of perspective, of being connected, not judging.

Jon Kabat-Zinn says, “Mindfulness means paying attention in a particular way. On purpose, in the present moment, and non-judgmentally.”

Rick Hanson, author of “The Practical Neuroscience of Buddha’s Brain” defines mindfulness as having control over your attention. “The attention can be placed wherever you want. It stays there and when you want to move your attention to something else, you can.” He adds, “Attention is like a spotlight and what it illuminates streams into the mind and shapes your brain. So developing greater control over attention is the single most powerful way to reshape the brain and thus the mind.”

The space I provide.

The space I provide is for you. Here, you can release the weight of your heart and feel accepted for all of your vulnerabilities, where your heart and mind stop fighting and arrive together, in the middle, to understand and accept one another. This is your journey and I am honored to be a witness to it.

"May I become at all times, both now and forever
A protector for those without protection
A guide for those who have lost their way
A ship for those with oceans to cross
A bridge for those with rivers to cross
A sanctuary for those in danger
A lamp for those without light
A place of refuge for those who lack shelter
And a servant to all in need."-
